HipHopopotamus is a 3 reel AWP slot (UK pub style fruit machine) game with multiple bonus features including trial bonus feature, nudges and more. This is one of the new Microgaming's AWP games predominantly for UK players who is used to more complex machines than the normal 5 reel, 9 payline variety of video slots. HipHopopotamus is only available in Flash version. It was released on August 6th, 2008 with another fruit machine - Track & Fieldmouse.
HipHopopotamus combines the hip hop street music craze with a fun purple gangsta hippopotamus bedecked with tons of bling to create an amusing theme for a state-of-the-art, "pub fruitie" style slot game with great potential rewards. The accent is on fun, but the returns can be serious for skillful players with the right mix of interactive skill and luck. Players control their game-play through a variety of features in the best AWP slot tradition, with nudge and holds that present repeated chances for skill to come into play.
There are 9 different reel symbols with reel wins ranging from x2 of your wager right up to top x550 jackpot for the Hippo of the title. Other symbols include: Bling Necklace, Mic, Ghetto Blaster, Trainer, Spray Can, 7, Bar and Cherry. 'HipHopOPotamus' players can earn up to 30,000.00 credits with the right mix of luck & skill, playing with a wager range from 0.10 to 10.00 credits (£/€/$).
Trail Feature
The feature is started by gaining the 8th position on the trail using numbers and bonuses, and itself randomly awards one of 8 possible sub features with intriguing titles such as "Busta Hippo", "Funk You Up", "An Extra Life", "Rapper's Delight" and the top winning HipHopoPotamus himself.
The feature itself is a Hi/Lo game. There is a 4th Reel that displays a number. Players choose to gamble higher or lower on the number, and if successful they move across the board in the direction across and up the matrix squares, displayed next to the number they gambled to. If a gamble is unsuccessful, the feature loses and returns to the reels. The player can either collect their current square. Nudges will autonudge in the best available win.
The reel bands have overlaid number and bonus symbols on them which add to the trail action and present the successful player with an impressive range of rewards. The trail has various positions rich in cash and other rewards, but some drawbacks for the unlucky too, all adding to the thrill factor.
Prizes increase in value the further the player travels. Adding a little positive suspense, some of the squares are "Bonus" boosted which give one of the following rewards: An Extra Life; the next Gamble will always win; the chance of re-starting the feature; accelerated movement on the checker board; a change number facility for use when required and a shuffle feature moving you around the checker board. The feature game ends when the player either collects on the current square or loses a hi/lo gamble game without having an extra life.
HipHopoPotamus is easy to use and entertains players with a wide range of fast moving elements enhanced by typical skill features like nudge, nudge hold, nudge bank hold and nudge repeat. Complementing the street rapper theme are brightly coloured graphics showcasing the vibrant hip hop culture and music.
Nudge Features:
The server may want to give you the opportunity to nudge a reel - up to 15 nudges can be given. All numbers add to the trail. When a reel win is nudged in, it pays immediately and cancels the rest of the nudges. If a reel win and a trail win occurs at the same time from nudges, spinning in etc then both are awarded. The reel win is put in the players win bank and the feature is played out as normal.
Nudge Bank Hold: This feature can be activated if the player chooses to spin without using all his nudges. Then the unused nudges are carried over to the next spin.
Nudge Bank Extra Interest: This will only occur in conjunction with Nudge Bank Hold and will increase the number of nudges held in the the nudge bank at the end of the spin, before the player gets the chance to nudge.
Bonus Funk You Up: Bonus "Funk You Up" is randomly awarded when the player gets a losing spin. After the reels stop spinning, the then it is activated. The alpha dapples through all the different symbols, the player stops one and win that prize.
Shifta: At the end of any losing spin, they may be awarded a Shifta, which will keep one of the reels and step the other 2 reels down until a win occurs on the payline.
Hold Feature:
On a lose the player may be offered holds on the next spin.
Triple Hold: This feature lasts 4 spins if the player holds the correct reels, otherwise the feature is stopped. Below is the sequence of the 3 spins and what the player has to hold or not. Player is offered holds and holds 2 reels with the same symbol.
Spin 1. With just one reel spinning, a symbol other than that held is spun in. You should hold the same 2 reels, with the same symbols on them.
Spin 2. Again with just one reel spinning, a symbol other than that held is spun in. You hold the same 2 reels.
Spin 3. The matching symbol is spun in and awards the reel win.
Scratches: Whenever the player spins the reels, there is a random chance of adding 1 or more Scratch arrows. Any Scratches to be added are added before the reels spin, as soon as the player presses the spin button. Any Scratches are held over every game, thereby giving the player a clear reason not to stop playing when they have some. They are activated every time a reel win occurs.
